Practical guides
π₯£ How long does yogurt last?
Guideline times for a product stored properly, with the fridge at 4 Β°C or below.
| Where | How long |
|---|---|
| In the fridge, unopened | until the date on the label |
| Once opened (in the fridge) | 2β3 days |
| In the freezer | up to 2 months |
To make it last longer
- Before buying more, check whether there's already an opened one in the fridge.
- Always use a clean spoon: crumbs and saliva make it go off sooner.
- Frozen yogurt changes texture: best used afterwards in smoothies and baking.
When to throw it away
Mould on the surface, a swollen lid, an unusual smell or taste. A little whey (the liquid on top) is normal.
These are general guidelines and don't replace what's written on the pack: if the label says something different, follow the label. "Use by" is a real expiry date; "best before" is about quality. If in doubt, don't eat it. The difference between the two dates β
