Practical guides
π₯ How long does bagged salad last?
Guideline times for a product stored properly, with the fridge at 4 Β°C or below.
| Where | How long |
|---|---|
| In the fridge, unopened | until the date on the label |
| Once opened (in the fridge) | 1β2 days |
| In the freezer | not recommended |
To make it last longer
- Once opened, remove wet or damaged leaves and put a sheet of kitchen paper in the bag: it absorbs moisture.
- Close the bag with a clip and put it in the vegetable drawer.
- Pre-washed salad doesn't need washing again: it's ready to eat.
When to throw it away
Soft, slimy or dark leaves, liquid at the bottom of the bag, an unpleasant smell.
These are general guidelines and don't replace what's written on the pack: if the label says something different, follow the label. "Use by" is a real expiry date; "best before" is about quality. If in doubt, don't eat it. The difference between the two dates β
